COVID-19 Measures in Hong Kong: Entry Requirements, Quarantine and Safety Guidelines

Hong Kong has lifted all quarantine and social distancing measures since December 29, 2022. Upon arrival, travellers are no longer required to undergo PCR testing and are free to dine in restaurants and visit tourist attractions. (Last update: 1 Jun 2023)

Are there any testing requirements for entering Hong Kong?

Hong Kong has fully resumed normal operations, and there are no testing requirements for travellers before or after arrival. However, due to occasional cases of COVID-19 in the community, it is recommended that visitors maintain personal hygiene and take necessary preventive measures for respiratory diseases, such as wearing masks indoors and regularly undergoing rapid antigen tests (RAT).

What quarantine measures are in place after arrival?

Since December 29, 2022, travellers are no longer required to undergo mandatory PRC tests upon arrival. However, it is advised for travellers to undergo rapid antigen testing (RAT) daily from the first to the fifth day after arrival (arrival day being day 0) and only go out after obtaining negative results.

What social distancing measures are currently in place in Hong Kong?

Since March 1, 2022, the mandatory mask-wearing requirement has been lifted, and individuals are not required to wear masks in public places, including public transportation. However, for the protection of high-risk individuals, wearing masks is still mandatory when entering medical facilities, elderly homes, and facilities for persons with disabilities.

Is isolation required for individuals infected with COVID-19 in Hong Kong?

As of January 30, 2023, the Hong Kong SAR Government has lifted the isolation order for confirmed COVID-19 cases. Individuals who test positive are not required to isolate or report to the Centre for Health Protection.

What should tourists do if they contract COVID-19 while in Hong Kong?

If tourists experience symptoms of COVID-19, they can seek help from any private doctor who can prescribe oral medications for COVID-19. In case of emergency, they can call 999 for assistance.

Additionally, telemedicine services are available in Virtus Medical for prescribing oral medications for COVID-19 and online consultations.
