Dr Ricky Lau obtained his bachelor's degree (Hons) in physiotherapy in 2002 and his master's degree in healthcare (Physiotherapy) with Distinction in 2008 from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He was employed as a physiotherapist at the University, non-government organization and private clinic, having served a wide range of patients. Dr Lau acquired a scholarship funded by Hang Seng Golden Jubilee Research Endowment Funds in 2008 and was awarded Doctor of Philosophy in 2011. His research was in neuro rehabilitation of stroke patients. His clinical studies included the validation of clinical mobility and balance assessment tools and the efficacy and effectiveness of body-weight support treadmill training, whole body vibration training, and sensorimotor training program etc., in promoting the neuromotor function and bone health of stroke patients. His researches were recognized and published in various international medical and rehabilitation journals. He actively participates in international and local conferences and had received the Best Presentation Award in the Hong Kong Physiotherapy Conference in 2011. Having a great interest in neurorehabilitation, Dr Lau mainly serves patients with neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson's Disease, spinal cord injury, children with cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, etc. in recent years.
