About Neurosurgery

Neurosurgery is a surgical specialty that treats individuals with disorders affecting the brain, the spinal cord and spinal column, and the peripheral nerves. It involves both conservative and surgical management of neuronal and vascular interactions, chronic pain syndrome and nervous system diseases.

The specialty treats:

  • Spine conditions & disorders: back pain, neck pain, neuralgia caused by spinal nerves compression
  • Diseases of the brain, meninges and skull
  • Diseases that affects the blood supply to the brain (e.g.: the internal carotid arteries and vertebral arteries)
  • Pituitary and spinal cord disorders

Central nervous system diseases: Stroke, Parkinson's Disease, Dementia, Brain Tumors, Acoustic Neuroma, Arteriovenous Malformation, etc.

Peripheral nervous system disorders: Back Pain, Scoliosis, Sciatica, Neck Pain, Neuralgia, etc.
