STATEMENT: COVID-19 PRELIMINARY POSITIVE CASE AT VIRTUS MEDICAL CENTRE (TSIM SHA TSUI) IS RETRACTED

On 23rd May 2021 (SUN) afternoon, Virtus Medical Group was notified that a part-time clinic nurse working at Virtus Medical Centre, 11/F, Zentre, 15 Middle Road, Tsimshatsui, Kowloon (“Virtus TST Medical Centre”), who took a COVID-19 test on 22nd May, was preliminarily tested positive. The clinical, epidemiological and laboratory findings from the analysis conducted by the Department of Health and Department of Microbiology of the University of Hong Kong suggest that the specimen was compatible with SARS-CoV-2 vaccine strain. Thus, the Centre for Health Protection is not going to classify this case as a COVID-19 infection. The nurse’s close contacts will be released from quarantine centre if they obtain a negative test result.

科興疫苗有效預防新冠肺炎入院及重症個案 專家籲市民及早接種

(2021年3月24日, 香港) 本港自上月26日展開新冠病毒疫苗接種計劃，迄今已有二十五萬名市民接種科興疫苗。自本星期起，部份市民已開始陸續到期接種第二劑疫苗。鑑於近日有不少關於科興疫苗的保護率以及安全性的討論，部份傳言或會令市民對疫苗接種產生疑慮或誤解，甚至考慮延遲或取消接種第二劑疫苗，有見及此，官涌疫苗接種中心醫務總監郭寶賢醫生及副總監何學工醫生，於本周二(3月23日) 與疫苗可預防疾病科學委員會顧問劉宇隆教授及2019冠狀病毒病疫苗顧問專家委員會召集人劉澤星教授進行視像會議，希望能引用其他國家的數據，釋除市民疑慮。

2019 COVID-19 Vaccination Programme officially rolled out on 26th February (Friday). Among the 29 Community Vaccination Centres (CVCs), five of the centres that are providing Sinovac vaccine (CoronaVac) are the first to commence operation and have already started providing vaccination to eligible Hong Kong residents*. Virtus Medical and Association of Private Medical Specialists of Hong Kong (AMPS) co-run the CVC at Kwun Chung Sports Centre. The centre kicked off its services at 8 am on 26th February and had administered 400 jabs as of 1 pm that day.

On 2nd Feb 2021 (Tue) morning, Virtus Medical Group was notified that a clinic nurse, who worked on the 16/F of Virtus Medical Tower (VMT) and had undergone a COVID-19 test on 1st Feb (Mon) was confirmed to be Positive for COVID-19. A confirmed case was also reported in the building where the nurse lived two days ago. In response to the notification, 16/F VMT stopped operations immediately and will be closed until 11th Feb (Thu) inclusive.

On 12th December (SAT) afternoon, Virtus Medical Group was notified that a patient, who had visited the 9th floor of Virtus Medical Tower (122 Queen’s Road Central, Hong Kong) at around 3:30pm on 10th December (THU), had undergone a COVID-19 test arranged by Virtus Medical Group after visit and was confirmed to be infected with COVID-19.

In response to the outbreak of COVID-19, all people are required to submit a COVID-19 negative certificated prior admission to Virtus Endoscopy Centre for OGD, colonoscopy, lung function test and other day surgeries or procedures, starting from 4th Dec, 2020.
