Official Statement: Unauthorised Use of Virtus Doctors’ Identities in Fraudulent Documents (8 May 2026) |
| Issued by Virtus Medical Group | |
| Date: 8 May 2026 | |
It has come to our attention that fraudulent medical certificates allegedly to have been issued by a Virtus doctor have been submitted to the eMPF Platform. These forged documents falsely claim to have been issued by a Virtus doctor to support MPF benefit claims (e.g., permanent unfitness for work, terminal illness). |
As of today (8 May 2026), five (5) of our doctors have been identified as victims of this forgery. Their names, signatures, and practice details have been used without any authorisation. |
| We state as follows: | |
These forged documents and the use thereof constitute serious criminal offences under Hong Kong law. We will report this matter to the police and the MPF Authority, and reserve our right to take legal action against any party that attempts to hold our doctors responsible for these forgeries. |
| For verification: If you receive a medical certificate allegedly to have been signed by a Virtus doctor, please directly check with that doctor (using the contact information you normally use or that is officially published by Virtus) to confirm whether he or she has truly issued the certificate. Do not rely on any certificate without such direct confirmation. |
We urge the public, MPF trustees, and employers to be vigilant and take every step to verify any suspicious document. |
